End of Term 1! (although it's slightly the start of Term 2)

Hi all,

This is a quick update post on where we should be and what should be on your blogs...

Ideally, by now, your blogs should have 10-12 posts (if you have lumped several film openings together in one post, you may have less than this. But not much less!)

Aim to have:

  • a brief post on each of the films that your classmates have presented on
  • a more extensive post on the films that I showed you the intros to earlier on (Blue Velvet, The Third Man, This is England, Trainspotting, etc.)
  • your storyboards (these need to demonstrate how the film will include MATCH-ON-ACTION, SHOT/REVERSE SHOT and the 180 DEGREE RULE.
  • An animatic of your storyboard (not crucial, but it will look good and be good prep for other projects later in the year)
  • Planning for filming
  • an account of the filming process
  • an account of the editing process (ongoing)
  • an evaluation of your preliminary film (when ready)
ALSO:

MAKE SURE YOUR PRELIMINARY FILM MEETS THE BRIEF!

The Preliminary task is a Continuity task involving filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom she/he then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue. This task should demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180-degree rule.
