End of Term 1! (although it's slightly the start of Term 2)
Hi all,
This is a quick update post on where we should be and what should be on your blogs...
Ideally, by now, your blogs should have 10-12 posts (if you have lumped several film openings together in one post, you may have less than this. But not much less!)
Aim to have:
MAKE SURE YOUR PRELIMINARY FILM MEETS THE BRIEF!
The Preliminary task is a Continuity task involving filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom she/he then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue. This task should demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180-degree rule.

Aim to have:
- a brief post on each of the films that your classmates have presented on
- a more extensive post on the films that I showed you the intros to earlier on (Blue Velvet, The Third Man, This is England, Trainspotting, etc.)
- your storyboards (these need to demonstrate how the film will include MATCH-ON-ACTION, SHOT/REVERSE SHOT and the 180 DEGREE RULE.
- An animatic of your storyboard (not crucial, but it will look good and be good prep for other projects later in the year)
- Planning for filming
- an account of the filming process
- an account of the editing process (ongoing)
- an evaluation of your preliminary film (when ready)

Post 1
Hi everyone - First blog post to celebrate setting up my new AS Media blog. I'll be posting reminders of what to do, course info and such. First lesson will be on setting up blogs, bit of an overview of the course and a chance to get to know each other/chat about our favourite film openings in preparation for making our own.
The brief and using the blog
Welcome to the blog. Your AS coursework planning, research and evaluation will be submitted to the exam board via your blog. This means that when a post is added you must :
- use own words;
- write accurately with good sentence structures, correct spelling and in an appropriate tone;
- not copy information from the internet;
- acknowledge sources of clips etc.
- You also need to check for new posts and what you need to do each week. The more you show use of technical skills the higher your marks will be. Try putting on as much as possible- work done in lessons, extended learning completed at home, skill development etc.
Good Luck!
As part of your foundation portfolio you will have to produce two short filmed artefacts.
The main task is to research, plan and make the titles and opening of a new fiction film, to last a maximum of two minutes. You can work on your own or in a group, maximum of 3. All research and planning should be completed individually.
See you all soon, Mr Lamb :)
